Notes: With thanks to oncomingscone and rowanheart24 for their glorious help! Comments make me write more. I hope you enjoy this. I’ve been working on this story for nearly a year and it’s finally finished. I’ve very proud of it and I hope it’s good enough for my lovely readers! This is a finished series and won’t be abandoned. I’m planning to post a chapter a day (at roughly the same time) until it’s finished.

Everything was set up, except for one thing. Ianto knew what they needed and he knew where he could get it. He needed Kiral’s help.

Jack hadn’t tried to stop him going out again. Ianto had gone outside by himself a few times, wandered around the plas. But he didn’t really know where to go anymore. He didn’t have a home to go to. He didn’t have a job to do. He didn’t have friends to see. He didn’t have a family to visit. All he had to do was go back inside and serve Jack.

                                                      * * *

“Have you left him yet?” Kiral asked as Ianto, once again, sat in Kiral’s lounge. This time, Ianto was alone and Kiral had been pressing this particular subject since he’d arrived.

Ianto glanced at Thomas and Patrick, who were both sitting on the floor at Kiral’s feet. They didn’t look at him, but instead kept their eyes on Kiral.

“I’m not discussing that right now. I’m stopping these aliens. But I need your help.”

Kiral sat back, stroking Patrick’s hair. “I think you’re being headstrong and stubborn, Ianto. You could come and stay here with me, work from here, leave those Torchwood fools to do their own work. It’s none of your business what’s going on out there. Keep out of it and keep yourself safe.”

“I owe it to Michael to do something.”

Kiral sighed and his fingers flexed in Patrick’s hair. “It’s your choice but you’re going to get yourself killed doing this.”

“I’m willing to take the risk to stop them.”

Kiral narrowed his eyes. “Well, you’re determined all right. What do you need from me to undertake this foolish plan?”

“I need pheromones. I know you have them. I need enough to bring every one of these aliens to me.”

Kiral gaped. “They’ll kill you!”

Ianto shook his head. “I have a weapon. I’m going to kill them first.”

“I suppose you’re going to do this no matter what, aren’t you?”

Ianto nodded. “I’m going to stop them or die trying.”

“Very noble. I still think you’re an idiot for doing this.”

Ianto shrugged. “Maybe. Are you going to give me what I need or not?”

Kiral looked down at Thomas and gave him a nod. Immediately, Thomas jumped up and went over to a cupboard. Out of it, he brought a box and from this, he took out a plastic bottle filled with a thick purple liquid. He presented this to Ianto.

“What do I do with it?” he asked Kiral.

“You must put it on your lips, on your neck and you must swallow some. This will bring them to you and make them want you.”

Ianto stood. “Thanks.” He went to go.

Kiral caught his wrist. “Do not get yourself killed, Ianto.”

Ianto shrugged. “As long as they die, that’s enough for me.”

Ianto left the flat. Just as he was closing the door behind him, Thomas ran up to him and grabbed his arm.

“Ianto, please don’t do this,” he pleaded.

“I have to.”

“Just give Torchwood your information. They’ll stop the aliens. It’s what they do. It’s got nothing to do with us. We’ve got our own work to do.”

“Yeah and maybe I’m sick of all that. Maybe I want to do something worthwhile for once. Maybe we all should.”

“Ianto, please don’t get yourself killed. You can’t be worthwhile if you’re dead.”

Ianto looked away. “I’m not going out there to kill myself. I know easier ways of doing that.”

Thomas bit his lip. “You wouldn’t.”

“Thomas, just go back in there, let Kiral look after you and be happy.”

“I’m not though. He likes Patrick better. And Patrick likes him better. I’m not built for this whole being tied to one person thing. Let me come with you and help.”

“And what would Kiral do to me if you got killed?”

Thomas shrugged. “He wouldn’t do anything, just try and get you to be my replacement. Please, Ianto.”

“I can’t, Thomas. But if you really want to leave Kiral, then just do it. There are other places to go, other things to do.”

“You’re not going to follow your own advice though are you? I know you, you’re not even going to think about it. You’re just going to carry on as you are, pretending you aren’t miserable.”

Ianto turned away. “Yeah, well that’s my choice. I’ll see you, Thomas.”

“Be careful!” Thomas yelled after him.

Ianto didn’t look back.

Worried now - I hope Ianto doesn't take too many risks - looking forward to tomorrow.

Uh oh. I don't like the sound of Ianto's plan at all.
I hope it doesn't go wrong.

Uh oh - I think Ianto getting a little over his head here. These aliens are smart. And he still has Suzie to contend with.

*crosses fingers for Ianto's safety, much as she imagines Owen is*

I love following this story. I'm thrilled with the friendships Ianto is developing with Tosh and Owen, and I'm hoping this stunt (while ill advised) will showcase Ianto's resourcefulness. I think Owen just wants to keep all his limbs-- Jack is not going to be pleased, at all.

Can't wait for more!

Part of me really doesn't want Ianto to go through with it, but I feel like this might be a turning point (at least i hope it is).

I'm so happy you wrote this and I love reading it.
