I’ve been working on this story for nearly a year and it’s finally finished. I’ve very proud of it and I hope it’s good enough for my lovely readers! This is a finished series and won’t be abandoned. I’m planning to post a chapter a day (at roughly the same time) until it’s finished.
“Are you ready to die because you won’t tell me the truth?”
Jack spat in Kiral’s face, grabbing a handful of his hair and forcing his head back. Kiral was strapped into the interrogation chair and still showed no fear.
“You’ll never get your answers if you kill me,” Kiral said smoothly.
Jack yanked on his hair. “I know you did this. If I kill you all my problems are solved.” He took out his gun and cocked it against Kiral’s neck.
Kiral smirked. “If you kill me, your murderer will still be out there. You know you can’t take that risk.”
Jack pulled back his gun. “You’re right. I’m not going to shoot you.” He fiddled with the controls of the chair. “But if you die during this interrogation, if the pain becomes too much for your body, well it’s no skin off my nose.”
He jerked back the on lever and the chair buzzed into life. A wave of pain shot through Kiral. He didn’t scream, just grunted and clenched his body. Jack stood back and watched coolly as pain ripped through Kiral. This wouldn’t take long. The machine would reveal Kiral’s secrets one by one.

Ianto had been sitting by Michael’s dead body for a long time, holding his hand. He knew he couldn’t stay there. He knew he couldn’t call the police. He knew he couldn’t abandon Michael’s body.
There was only one person to call, one thing to do. He took out the card he kept in his pocket. He took Michael’s mobile phone from his pocket. His fingers were shaking as he dialled the number and he fought to keep his eyes focused on keypad. He felt dizzy and weak and oh fuck Michael was dead.
“What?” Jack’s voice was short and snappy as he answered and Ianto felt like hanging up. But as he looked at Michael’s body, he knew he couldn’t.
“I…he’s dead. I need... Jack, I need you.”
“Ianto!” Jack’s voice was suddenly panicked. “What is it?”
“He’s dead.”
“I’m coming,” Jack said and hung up.
Ianto put the phone in his pocket, then took Michael’s hand and gazed down at him, his throat tight. He should never have left Michael alone.

Jack turned off the machine and, barely glancing at Kiral, hurried from the room.
He grabbed his coat off his hook and called to his team. “There’s been another death.” He knew he looked harassed but he didn’t care. “Owen, deal with him. Tosh, Suzie, be ready to help me with the body.”
He turned and rushed out of the hub. Suzie watched him go with a strange smile.

The panic Jack feels melts away to pain the moment he sees Ianto, his boy in a heap on the floor. His arms around Michael, face in his hair and shaking.
Jack goes to him, kneels down beside him and reaches out for him. Ianto shudders and Jack holds still, not putting his arm around Ianto although he wants to.
“He’s dead,” Ianto whispers. “They killed him.”
“Who killed him?”
“Those men. They’re not men. They’re the wrong shape.”
Jack shuffles closer to Ianto, slides his arm around him and Ianto collapses against him.
Jack wraps Ianto and Michael in his embrace and holds them close. He kisses Ianto on the top of his head and speaks soothingly to him.
“I’m taking you with me. I’m taking you somewhere safe.”
Ianto glances at him, then back down at Michael. “He needs to come too.”
Jack strokes Ianto’s hair. “We’re taking him with us. It’s going to be all right.”
