I’ve been working on this story for nearly a year and it’s finally finished. I’ve very proud of it and I hope it’s good enough for my lovely readers! This is a finished series and won’t be abandoned. I’m planning to post a chapter a day (at roughly the same time) until it’s finished.

Jack drove where the sat nav told him to and found himself outside an old, run down block of flats. He parked the car, set the triple deadlock and drew his gun. He set his wriststrap to scan for alien signatures. It immediately began to beep. There were alien signatures in the block of flats. He followed them, his gun cocked and ready. These bastards were going down.

He found the flat. The signatures his wriststrap was detecting were huge. Gripping his gun tightly, he kicked in the door and burst upon the room.

He absorbed the scene in front of him in seconds. The room was filled with plants and equipment he recognised as alien. Sitting crossed-legged on the floor smoking a rollup and giggling, was a teenage boy. On the sofa, another boy was sprawled in the lap of a large man with purple eyes.

He pointed his gun right at the man. There was no doubt in Jack’s mind that he was alien.

“Hands on your head,” he barked.

The man stared at him, then stood and did what he was told. “Fuck,” he grunted. “It’s Torchwood.”

                                                * * *

Jack didn’t have to shoot anyone, or even tazor them. The alien introduced himself as Kiral and co-operated with Jack. Jack led him and the two boys back to the SUV in handcuffs.

When he got back to the hub with them, Tosh, Owen and Suzie were all there.

“Find anything, Suzie?” he asked, as he guided the three prisoners inside.

“No. There was nothing.” She and Owen took the boys and helped Jack get all three in the cells.

Jack was blazing. This was the guy, he was certain of it. They locked them up, then went to the meeting room to discus what was going to happen next.

“It’s them. I’m certain of it,” Jack barked, both hands resting on the desk as he leaned towards his team with an intense look.

“There isn’t any proof, Jack,” said Tosh, sensibly.

Jack wasn’t in the mood to listen to sense. “We are going to get proof,” he said. “No matter what it takes, we are getting proof.”

Owen leaned back. “What do you want us to do then?”

Jack glanced at Suzie, who was unusually quiet. He grunted. He could do with her advice but he wasn’t going to ask for it.

“Okay, erm, Owen, Suzie, I want you to question those boys. Get whatever information you can from them.” He smirked. “Get them to incriminate the alien if you can. I’m going to sort out alien boy in there.”

“Be careful, Jack,” said Tosh.

Jack glanced at her, surprised. “Oh, he won’t hurt me.” He patted his gun. “I’ll be armed and he’ll be nicely tied up.”

“That’s not what I meant.” Tosh looked worried.

Jack sat on the edge of the table near her and took her hand. “What are you worried about?”

She looked back at him. “Don’t go too far. He…he might be innocent.”

He smiled and patted her hand. “Don’t worry. He’s the guy. I’m sure of it. This is all gonna be over soon.” He stood and clapped his hands together. “Right, everybody get on with it.” He strode from the room, merely expecting they would do exactly as instructed.

                                                            * * *

Jack slammed Kiral down in a chair in one of the interrogation rooms and cuffed him to it.

“You are going to tell me everything, right now.”

Kiral’s rather handsome face remained stony. Jack was trying to work out what species the guy was. He was disguised in some way. But for the  purple eyes, he looked human. He could easily be a shape shifter.

“What do you want to know?” Kiral asked, attempting to lean back in his chair and look relaxed.

Jack grabbed Kiral’s pale hair. “I want to know how many you’ve killed and how many accomplices you’ve got.”

“Killed? Haven’t killed anyone. And I don’t have accomplices. I work solo, Captain.”

Jack scowled. “You’d better start telling me the truth, Kiral. What’s your real shape?”

Kiral shrugged. “Too many to count. I like this one best though. The boys love it.”

Jack grabbed hold of Kiral’s neck, squeezing a little. “How many of you are there, you bastard?”

“I told you. I’m the one and only.”

Jack smirked. “What would your boys say about that? Should we ask them?”

Kiral scowled. “You leave them alone. They’ve done nothing wrong. They’re just kids.”

Jack grinned. “Well, look at that. Seems like I’ve found your weak spot.”

“You humans always seemed to get so worked up,” Kiral said, mildly.

Jack growled. He pulled back his hand and slapped Kiral hard. Kiral didn’t even flinch.

“You bastard. Tell me! You’re killing them, aren’t you? Admit it.”

“Killing who?”

“The boys. Rent boys have been turning up dead for months and I damn well know you’re responsible.”

“Do you? Months you say. And you haven’t stopped it yet? Not very good at this, are you?”

Jack grabbed hold of Kiral and pushed him and the chair to the floor. “You are going to start talking to me right now, damn it.” He kicked him in the side and Kiral grunted.

Jack grabbed a handful of his hair and leaned in close. “You’re going to talk to me,” he spat. “Or you’re going to die in here. You and your boys.”

                                                * * *

The two teenage boys held each other’s hands tightly. They hadn’t spoken, just watched what was going on around them. Owen and Suzie remained after Jack had dragged Kiral away. They knew he’d get some answers out of him. He always got answers out of people.

Owen didn’t like interrogating people as much as Jack and Suzie seemed to. It wasn’t his job. His job was to be a doctor. He was good at that. Suzie, however, seemed to relish it.

The boys looked vulnerable and innocent but Owen was sure they could also be tough. They wouldn’t have survived that kind of life if they weren’t tough.

“Right, boys,” said Owen, swaggering into the cell. “Let me have it. What’s going on?”

The boys glanced at each other, then one stood and held out his hand. Owen took it and they shook hands.

“I’m Thomas. He’s Patrick.”

Owen nodded. “Owen. She’s Suzie. Are you going to talk to us?”

Thomas glanced at Patrick, who shrugged.

“What do you want to know?” Thomas asked.

“The bloke you were with. Who is he? Truth now.”

“He’s our boss. He looks after us.”

 “And what’s your job exactly?”

“They’re rent boys,” said Suzie. “Dirty little whores.”

Owen glanced at her in surprise.

Thomas frowned. “Steady, we ain’t done nothing to you.”

“Okay, so you’re rent boys,” Owen said, trying to get back to business. He wasn’t sure what had got into Suzie. “So, you’re friend is…your pimp?”

“Kiral. Yeah. He looks after us. What do you think he’s done?”

“We think he may responsible for the deaths of several rent boys over the past few months.”

Patrick shook his head violently, jumping up from his seat. “No. No way. He wouldn’t do that. He looks after us, protects us. He wouldn’t hurt anyone.”

“Yeah,” said Thomas. “He may be an alien but he’s a good bloke.”

Owen exchanged glanced with Suzie, then looked back at the boys. “You know he’s an alien?”

“Well, duh. The dude’s got purple eyes. Plus, he’s rather more impressive in the trouser department than your average bloke,” Thomas said with a wink.

Owen smirked. “Lucky you. So, he’s an angel then, your boss?”

“Well, not exactly. He’s our supplier, if you get me. Has some amazing stuff.”

“Drugs?”

“Yeah, unlike anything I’ve ever seen. Stuff that gets you high without a bad comedown. Stuff that makes every bloke want you. Everything.”

“And he deals this stuff?”

“Some of it. He’s very careful about what he hands out to the general public. It’s all from his own planet, see.”

Owen nodded. “Okay, let’s leave it there for now.”

“Owen, they’re lying. They’ve got to be,” Suzie hissed as Owen made for the cell door.

“We’re leaving it there,” he said firmly and grabbed her arm.

He dragged her from the cell and locked it behind them. She allowed herself to be taken away.

“Jack’s positive this guy is our killer,” Suzie said, once they’d left the boys behind.

“Yeah, well Jack’s been known to be wrong.”

Owen stormed upstairs and over to a monitor. He keyed in to the interrogation room Jack was in and quietly watched what was happening for a few moments.

“He’s losing it,” he said. “This is not good.”

Jack had Kiral by the throat. Kiral was bruised and bleeding and he wasn’t talking.

Owen fled the room and hurried down to the interrogation room. He pulled Jack off Kiral.

“That’s enough now, Jack.”

Jack grunted and kicked Kiral. “He won’t tell me the truth.”

“You carry on like this and you’re going to kill him. You won’t get any answers then.” He tugged on Jack’s arm and brought him out of the room.

Owen collected his medical kit, then went back to Kiral. Kiral watched him as Owen cleaned up his injuries. They were superficial but painful. Owen had to admire Jack’s technique. This was persuasive pain, not a wish to harm. But there was also a certain anger there.

“My boys?” Kiral asked in a hoarse voice. “Where are my boys?”

“They’re in one of our cells.”

“Have you hurt them?”

“No. Honestly, they’re fine. They told us who you are.”

“Did they tell you I haven’t killed anyone?”

“Yeah. They told us. I expect they’ve been told to say that though, haven’t they?”

Kiral smiled. “But you believe them, don’t you? You know I haven’t done anything.”

“I don’t know anything.”

“You’re a clever lad. You can find out the truth.”

Owen frowned. He finished his work, then backed away. “I can’t control him. It’s probably not going to make any difference what the evidence says. He thinks you did it. That’s that.”

Kiral looked away. “Promise me something.”

“What?”

“Make sure my boys are all right.”

Owen considered him. Owen didn’t have a lot of experience with matters such as this but he hadn’t expected to find a pimp who actually cared about his boys.

“All right. No matter what happens to you, your boys will be all right.”

“Thank you.”

Owen nodded brusquely, then picked up his med kit and left the room.

Jack was waiting outside. “He did it,” Jack barked. “I damn well know he did it and I am going to hurt him until he confesses.”

“And what’s the point of that, Jack, when we can get proof without laying a finger on him?” He held up a swab in a bag. “DNA. Go in there and beat him up if you like but don’t pretend it’s just because you want to know the truth.”

“I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

Owen gave him a look. “Yeah. Like you’re not taking your hurt and anger out on this guy because it’s convenient. I’ve been there, remember?”

Jack looked away. “Just do your job, Owen and let me do mine.” He pushed his way past Owen and back into the room.

Owen sighed and returned to his medical bay.
