I’ve been working on this story for nearly a year and it’s finally finished. I’ve very proud of it and I hope it’s good enough for my lovely readers! This is a finished series and won’t be abandoned. I’m planning to post a chapter a day (at roughly the same time) until it’s finished.

Ianto and Owen had searched everywhere for the knife. Owen had gone to ransack her house. Ianto had searched the entire hub. There was no sign of the knife.

Ianto left Jack in his office. He hadn’t tried to talk to Jack again about it but Jack had surely noticed him searching the hub. Ianto could feel Jack’s eyes on him, silently watching him. Ianto felt safe with him there.

It was late. The others were on their way home. Ianto didn’t know where Suzie was and he didn’t care. He just needed her to stay out of his way until he could solve this thing. And he was going to solve it. He was determined.

He needed some air. He needed to think. He rode the lift up to street level and paced. He watched the water tumble down the tower and thought. Where could it be? He was positive she had to have it. He was certain she was the one responsible. She’d helped those aliens, murdered all those people with that knife. She had to have it.

“I knew you’d work it out.”

He spun around and there she was, looking at him. Her dark eyes were clouded and unreadable. Her manner was calm and cool. “You’re clever. That’s why Jack likes you.”

Ianto breathed deeply to keep himself calm. “Suzie, give yourself up. We know everything.”

She smiled. “I know. I could see you working it out. I knew you’d get there. I knew it wouldn’t take you long.” She dug in her bag and pulled out the knife.

His eyes ran along its serrated edge and his heart thudded.

Her smile faded away and there seemed to be a sudden sadness in her eyes. “This is what you’ve been looking for. I keep it on me. Never know when I might have to use it.”

“Why did you do it?” he asked. He wasn’t sure he wanted to know but he couldn’t not ask.

She gazed at him for a long moment before glancing away and blinking hard. “I don’t enjoy doing it. I don’t want to kill anybody but…I needed to. It gets inside you, this job.” Her voice broke. “You do it for long enough, and you end up thinking, ‘How come we get all the Weevils and bollocks and shit?’ Is that what alien life is? Filth? But this…it’s brilliant and beautiful. It’s better than all that other stuff. And there’s more out there if we can just find it. And I have to explore it. I have to. I can’t just ignore it. It’s too beautiful to be ignored.”

“You killed people. That’s not beautiful. Why did you do it?”

“For the glove. I had to test it. I needed the bodies. That's how it works. Violent death. Those dumb shit aliens. They were ready to go on an all out killing spree. But they had no clue how to cover their tracks. I helped them. In exchange for their bodies when they were done with them. It was so easy.”

“All those people?”

“The more I use the glove, the more I control it. If I can get enough practice, then think what that glove could do. If I could get it work all the time, on anything, beyond the two minutes, if it could work permanently, it could resurrect. I did it to save lives. Isn’t that worth a few deaths? Those people were nothing, not compared to what I could do.”

“Michael? Was he nothing? You used it on him,” he spat.

“I didn’t kill him,” she said, calmly.

“You got those aliens to kill him though, didn’t you?”

She smiled sweetly at him. “Actually, I sent them after you. The stupid fuckers just got the wrong whore. You just had to get involved with Jack, didn’t you? You had to let him get to you. You had to let him look into your eyes and know your name and fuck…you couldn’t just be a hole for him, could you? It’s your fault Michael is dead, Ianto. Poor boy. Poor Jack. He’s going to be so upset when he sees you dead. He’ll turn to me and everything will be how it was supposed to be, without you.”

Smiling sweetly at him, she yanked out her gun and trained it on him. “I’m not going to bring you back, Ianto. I’m going to make sure you’re completely dead, even if I have to cut you up into tiny little pieces.”
